Daniel Nils Roberts is one of the stars of the UK improv scene, fresh from taking the West End by storm concocting ‘lost’ Jane Austen novels with award-winning comedy sensations Austentatious, with whom he also recently recorded a Radio 4 special.
He is a founder member of anarchic cult improvised favourites Racing Minds, with whom he has toured the world, recorded an Audible series, appeared on BBC 6 Music and garnered over half a million followers to their popular podcast.
His two hit solo hours Honey and The Causeway blended characters, sketches and standup with ambitious multimedia elements, and were both nominated for ‘Best Comedy Show’ at Perth Fringe World Australia in 2016 and 2017.
'Sheer genius... one to watch most definitely' – ★★★★ The Scotsman
'Strange and wonderful... so funny that it seems like Roberts is just showing off' – ★★★★ Broadway Baby
'Devastatingly funny' – ★★★★ Fest
I regularly perform standup comedy sets about materials science and engineering to public audiences across London and the UK as part of Science Showoff, Engineering Showoff and Bright Club. In 2017 I took part in a science comedy panel show called The Agony Auncles of Science at the Edinburgh Fringe. I’m a proud member of the Science Showoff Talent Factory, a group of the next generation science communicators trained and mentored by Steve Cross.
Bright Club is the platform that transforms researchers into stand-up comedians and has been doing this for 10 years across the UK.
It’s about having fun, audience participation and combining research and comedy to educate and entertain.
