Starsailor headlines our penultimate IVW gig with his soaring vocals and strong Van Morrison, Jeff Buckley and Neil Young influences. James will be joined by two brilliant talents, Up Down Go Machine (Acoustic) and Calum Lintott, both powerful and formative artists. Expect a wonderful, emotive melding of rock and soul.

James Walsh

Front man of multi-million selling band Starsailor, James Walsh has emerged as a singer-songwriter in his own right. He’s written songs with Eliza Doolittle, Melanie C, Suzanne Vega, and Professor Green – to name a few; as well as writing movie soundtracks and releasing his debut solo album ‘Turning Point’ back in 2014.

Turning Point is very much a coming of age album, full of wonderful examples of James’s ability to weave inspiring melodies round simple chords, creating timeless and classic songs.

Starsailor released their eagerly awaited 5th studio album ‘All This Life’ (Cooking Vinyl) in September 2017.

At the show, expect Starsailor classics, solo songs and the odd cover.

Up Down Go Machine (Acoustic)

The band weaves punchy, but delicate folk melodies around their stripped back, acoustic guitar led sound.

Catchy percussive elements add rhythmic vibe that propels this acoustic-style into something more interactive and energetic.

Their songs are unashamedly heartfelt and direct, with strong nods to Mumford Sons and Ben Howard but never stray too far from their home-grown Celtic roots.

"“It’s easy to see why London-based Up Down Go Machine are creating such a flurry of excitement.” – Swn Festival (created by Huw Stephens - Radio 1)

"One of the best things about my job is finding artists who have that special something. It's like striking gold - you quickly look around to check no-else has seen it yet. Up Down Go Machine are one of those acts. Beautiful songs, perfect performance and strong, powerful vocals, not only do they have everything they need to go far, but they're a pleasure to deal with."
