So now founder member Greg Dread, the original bassmaster Leo Williams, the unmistakable MC Spee and legendary reggae vocalist Earl 16 return with new input from the fresh faces and continue to hold the stage with an awesome live show, playing classic tunes both old and new to deliver a unique sound. Chris Compton is the new face on guitar, while another Chris, namely long term friend of the band Chris Oldfield, will be taking care of the laptop and DJ side of the new live setup. Fusing technology with human rhythms, dub bass collides with dance beats, live guitar and bubbling electronics, all united by energetic MCing and sweet reggae vocals. The future may hold many challenges but Dreadzone once again rise up and confound expectations. With new tunes on the boil, this year will hold quite a few suprises as the band move forward and continue to shatter preconceptions. "One of the most interesting groups around" The Independent |

Around this point it seemed sensible to release the bands songs on an easy to store, wipe clean format and 500,000 Cds were hastily produced and sold by the bucket load by the bands fine record company. If you don’t have “Young For Eternity” then quite simply, you’re mad/ wrong and should take immediate steps to improve your life and those of your friends and family. 2 years of craziness followed! On came the U, S and A/ Japan/ Aus/ Germany and the rest of Europe. Festivals/ tours/ TV appearances/ Videos/ Awards/ Autographs/ Interviews/ Photo shoots… the mighty carousel of musical dreams was spinning and we all held on tight. Faster and faster…perhaps too fast we span and all our hearts stopped when Billy’s horse stumbled in April and finally fell in Sept 06. In a January 07 operation Billy had Vocal nodes removed. (google it… it’s not very nice) March 07 and Billy’s voice is stronger than it has ever been. A mere whispered “Good Morning” can blow a passer-by’s eardrums at 100 metres. The band’s rehearsal room is alive with the brilliance of the songs that are soon to make up album 2 and The Subways are climbing the walls and shaking their cage with blistering intensity… “Tour us now!” they scream! “We need to make the kids dance till their legs buckle, scream till their lungs pop and sweat till their skins slid off” |

Time
to dance the night away with the band who make every gig a party night!
Those that have followed the band will know that the Rufus Stone Soul Band, based in their home town of Southampton, has been around in many guises since their start in late 1984. After all this time you would expect that some of the sparkle would have gone, not a bit. They still have the same distinctive sound, which ensures that they get the maximum involvement from their audience. Over the years they have built a loyal following and it is this support that has kept the band not only on the road but still as soulful as when they started. The music is authentic soul with selections from The Blues Brothers and The Commitments, but the bulk of the set comes from the soul greats such as Otis Redding, James Brown, Wilson Pickett, Joe Tex and many others. During their time together there have been a number of highlights that include support to some of the top soul artists like Jimmy Ruffin, Edwin Starr, Curtis Mayfield, Geno Washington, Ben E King, and Gloria Gaynor. |

Elvis Presley's Legendary TCB Band (Taking Care of Business), featuring James Burton, Jerry Scheff & Glen D HardinThis awesome show featuring three of the original Elvis band that worked with 'The King' from 1969 to 1977 in the studio and on the road including Madison Square Gardens and Aloha from Hawaii. A sensational show of Elvis from the men who made the music
|
|
||||||
The TCB Band consists of four superb musicians who acquired their name through working for Elvis Presley. Elvis' motto was "TCB" - Taking Care of Business in a flash. These three letters were arranged around a lightening bolt, and the logo was used on everything from stationary to Elvis' private jet, the Lisa Marie. When Elvis returned to live performances in 1968, he had with him over the years a core of musicians who made up the rhythm section of the orchestra. James Burton, Jerry Scheff, Glen D Hardin and Ronnie Tutt later became known as The TCB Band. Glen D. He joined the TCB Band in 1970 through to 1976 and as well as playing piano for Elvis, both in recording sessions and live performances, Glen D arranged music for him and was a key member of the group. Glen received a gold record for arranging the music on Elvis's hit, The Wonder of You. Also during the seventies, he worked on recording sessions with Dean Martin, Gram Parsons and Linda Ronstadt and was a member of the Hot Band working with Emmylous Harris into the eighties. Glen, along with Jerry and James, also played with John Denver both on tour and in the studio. Other recording artists he played with into the nineties were Bing Crosby, Kenny Rogers, Michael Nesmith (from The Monkeys), Hoyt Axton, Chris Hillman and reunion concerts with The Crickets. You will also see Glen D with the TCB Band on Roy Orbison's Black & White Night DVD. In August of 1997, he teamed up once more with the TCB Band for the first ever production of Elvis - The Concert in Memphis, reuniting a whole host of musicians and singers with Elvis via video. He has since toured worldwide with this production and continues to perform with a number of other vocal artists, taking care of business musically with his three friends and colleagues. James. Elvis Presley approached James and asked him to play on the famous 68 Special show, but James was working with Frank Sinatra at the time and had to decline. Elvis contacted James again in 1969 to tell him that he was returning to live performances and asked James to form a band to support him. That was when The TCB Band was formed. James continued to work with Elvis until 1977 and beyond. During the 1970s James also worked with Gram Parsons and was also a member of the Hot Band formed by Gram's girlfriend and backing singer Emmylou Harris. From 1978, James began working with John Denver and continued to do so for the next fifteen years. Glen D and Jerry were also part of John Denver's band at this time. 1987 saw the TCB Band together again in the fantastic Roy Orbison Black & White Night show, which is well worth watching to see James and Bruce Springsteen have a guitar duel during the song Pretty Woman. In August 1997 the first Elvis - The Concert show took place in Memphis and the band have continued to tour the world intermittently with this show since then, as well as appearing (mainly in Europe) with a variety of good vocal artists (see Events page for current show dates). 2001 saw James inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and he has also been honoured in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. A statue of James was placed in front of the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium, next to a statue of Elvis, in 2005. Jerry. Bass player Jerry Scheff is a native of San Francisco and originally got his start playing in jazz clubs in the Bay Area at the age of 15. Following a three-year stint as a musician in the U.S. Navy, Jerry joined jazz guitarist Barney Kessel in Los Angeles. After achieving a successful debut as a jazz string bassist, he decided to seek out session work instead in the pop/rock world of Los Angeles. With his appearance on Along Comes Mary, a hit by vocal group The Assocoation, the demand for Jerry's services increased considerably. In the following years he worked for the Everly Brothers, Nancy Sinatra, Johnny Rivers, Neil Diamond, Sammy Davis Jr., Johnny Mathis, Pat Boone, Dionne Warwick, Barbara Streisand, Linda Ronstadt, Bette Midler, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Leonard Nimoy (of Star Trek fame), and even the Muppets! Jerry played bass parts for The Doors' L.A. Woman album in 1971, leading to his distinctly recognisable contribution to the hit record Riders On The Storm. About this time, he became a member of Elvis Presley's touring band and can be seen performing in the documentary films Elvis: That's The Way It Is (1970) and Elvis On Tour (1972) as well as the first ever show broadcast via satellite, Aloha From Hawaii (1973). Though he openly admits to not being an Elvis fan prior to meeting "the King," Presley's artistry won him over and he continued to work with Elvis until his death in 1977. Afterwards, he worked with Bob Dylan on the acclaimed album Street Legal (1978), in addition to session work with Johnny Cash and Richard Thompson. In the '80s and '90s, he toured with Elvis Costello, Sam Phillips and John Denver. Jerry also appeared with Roy Orbison and friends on the TV concert, A Black and White Night (1987). Ron. Ron moved to Los Angeles in 1969 following his first appearance with Elvis Presley's "comeback" performances at the International Hotel, which was later to become the Las Vegas Hilton. The first hit Ron played on was the first "live" version recorded on stage of Suspicious Minds. Some of the most notable hits that soon followed were Merle Haggard's studio version of Oakie from Muskogee along with bandmate James Burton. Next was Bobby Sherman's Easy Come Easy Go, The Hughes Corporation's Rock The Boat, Cat Steven's Peace Train, Cher's Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves, Barbara Streisand's Stoney End, Sammy Davis Jr's Mr Bo-Jangles, Billy Joel's Piano Man, Neil Diamond's Play Me, Delaney and Bonnie's Soul Shake... |

Ruby TurnerSoul and R&B diva, Ruby Turner is truly the genuine article. Blessed with a voice to die for!

| + Opening Act | Mama's GunMulti-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter & producer Andy Platts |
Ruby Turner, one of the UK's finest Soul Singers, has just launched her long awaited new album "So Amazing". One of the tracks was recently featured in the BBC Drama "Silent Witness". Ruby was born in Jamaica and grew up in Montego Bay. She was told that Grandfather Turner was a lead singer in a gospel group. Music in the blood was confirmed. She was relocated to Birmingham, England when she was 9. Ruby can breathe life and meaning into a song whether it is a passionate soaring ballad or a soulful up-tempo groove. Her career to date has been sensational with major Tours, Film, TV and theatre appearances. Her major break came when taken under the wings of Britons own Blues Legend Alexis Korner – sadly now gone from us. In the mid 1980's she joined 'CultureClub' at the height of their stardom. Since then, Ruby has releasd 13 solo albums. Ruby's first Album, "Women Hold Up Half The Sky" was released by Jive to critical acclaim in 1986. This period spawned the hits 'If You're Ready (Come Go With Me) and 'I'd Rather Go Blind' and, in the American R'n'B chart, the number 1 hit single 'It's Gonna Be Alright' - one of less than ten British records to achieve this! It was at this time that she also released her hit album 'The Motown Songbook' on which she performed with some of the great stars of that era - The Four Tops, The Temptations, Jimmy Ruffin etc. "Ruby Turner Live In Bristol" was her last album. Recorded live at the Bristol Theatre Royal, she performed some of her biggest hits, including 'I'd Rather Go Blind', "If you're ready come go with me", "Stay with me Baby" and 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered'. |

"...Mamas Gun offer up fabulous grooves as toe-tapping & no doubt as able to compete with the recent work of Mark Ronson." Drowned in Sound The album as a whole offers a veritable feast of all things good. Songs like 'House on a Hill & 'Finger On it provide energetic summer soundtracks that will stand the test of time drawing parallels to acts like Beck & Prince aided by classic, open hearted offerings 'Wishing & 'Pots of Gold echoing elements of artists such as Stevie Wonder & John Legend. In addition 'Rico, Rico & Chasing Down Shadows are not miles apart from the compositions of Lennon or Queen. As a young producer unafraid of combining his musical values & influences, Andy Platts own mark is firmly stamped on this record in many ways, it is still true to say that this is most definitely a 'pop record with many familiar sounds however it has been produced with foresight & modernity that this fresh and talented singer/songwriter has seamlessly blended into something extremely special, creating what will certainly become a 'must have album of the future. |

Fabulous ThunderbirdsFor the past 30 years, The Fabulous Thunderbirds have been the quintessential American band. The group's distinctive and powerful sound, influenced by a diversity of musical styles, manifested itself into a unique musical hybrid via such barnburners as "Tuff Enuff" and "Wrap It Up." The Fabulous Thunderbirds are a blues-rock band formed way back in 1974. After performing for several years on the Austin, Texas blues scene they earned a record contract with Takoma/Chrysalis Records, later signing to Epic. For over thirty years, The Fabulous Thunderbirds have been the quintessential American band. The group's distinctive and powerful sound, influenced by a diversity of musical styles, manifested itself into a unique musical hybrid via such barnburners as “Tuff Enuff” and “Wrap It Up”. Founding member Kim Wilson spearheads the group as it evolves into its newest incarnation. “We started as a straight blues band.” vocalist and harmonica player Wilson says. “We now incorporate a mixture of a lot of different styles. We're an American music band and we're higher energy than ever before.” The Fabulous Thunderbirds features Jay Moeller on drums, Johnny Moeller and Mike Keller on guitar, and Randy Bermudes on bass. Wilson’s musical talents have garnered him multiple Blues Awards and Grammy Nominations. The Blues Foundation named Wilson “Contemporary Blues Male Artist of the Year” in 2006, and “Lookin’ for Trouble!” was named Blues Song of the Year in 2004. Wilson has contributed to the work of many other great artists such as the legendary Muddy Waters (who called him his “son”), contemporary artist Bonnie Raitt, guitar legends Stevie Ray Vaughn and brother Jimmy Vaughn, and Martin Scorsese’s movie “The Blues”. With his current movie project “Cadillac Records”, Wilson continues to focus on the music he loves. With over 20 albums recorded and millions sold, Kim Wilson and The Fabulous Thunderbirds tour the world performing their own unique style of music. Ranging from pop anthems like “Powerful Stuff” which was featured in the Tom Cruise movie “Cocktail”, to the low down blues of Chicago, this brand of honest music brings fans back time and again. Having shared the stage with The Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, Carlos Santana and blues legends BB King and Buddy Guy and countless others, The Fabulous Thunderbirds continue to tour Europe and the North America, bringing more great music to their fans worldwide. Their new CD (tentative title “Pay Back Time”) is to be released in mid-2008. |

Wild Willy Barrett is one of the most accomplished multi-instrumentalists working today, playing acoustic classical guitar with an original style and virtuosity few could match. His musical style is witty and his humour onstage is dry. |

Sold Out - No Ticket = No Entry Sorry!The Brook are very proud to present...10ccGraham Gouldman's Legendary Chart Toppers playing songs like: Dreadlock Holiday, I’m Not In Love, Things We Do For Love, Rubber Bullets & Good Morning Judge.
|
|
||||||
Not a description of Oscar Wilde, but one of the UK’s most popular yet unsung musical heroes, GRAHAM GOULDMAN, whose catchy tunes and lyrical messages are still being enjoyed in most corners of the world, some thirty years after his first hit. If songs like the timeless classic, I’m Not In Love, the poptastic Things We Do For Love or the quasi reggae Dreadlock Holiday mean little or nothing, then reader, read on, you’ve had you ears tuned to the wrong station all these years. Between 1972 and 1976, 10cc had an outstanding string of hit records, such as the two No 1’s Rubber Bullets and the aforementioned I’m Not In Love, I’m Mandy Fly Me, Wall Street Shuffle, Art For Art’s Sake and many more, making them one of the most successful and influential English bands of the ‘70s. Graham had found a natural songwriting partner in the sweet voiced Eric Stewart; I’m Not In love became an all time classic love song. “I’d already written the sort of suspended chords at the beginning of the song”, says Graham, “ and Eric came up with the title … he saw it more as a song about not having to say “I Love You”, but I saw it more as someone trying to ignore the obvious”. In the 20-something years since Gouldman and Stewart wrote the song, its been covered by artists as diverse as the Pretenders (their version featured in the smash movie Indecent Proposal), Will To Power, and, more recently, The Fun Loving Criminals. Between 1972 and 1976 all four of the band’s albums were bit hits, with three reached the UK Top 10. In 1976 Godley and Creme left the band, Stewart and Gouldman retained the name and continued the hits with Good Morning Judge. The No 1 Dreadlock Holiday and the international smash Things We Do For Love. Then fate turned nasty when Eric was involved in a serious car accident at the end of 1979; things were never the same again. While Eric embarked on a long convalescence, Graham took stock of his career and decided to take on some solo projects. Having always harboured a love of film which rivalled his love of music, he had occasionally toyed with the idea of writing film soundtracks, but hadn’t exactly been sitting around twiddling his thumbs looking for something to do. And this was the ideal time to try something different. First he wrote the theme song to the respectfully successful Farrah Fawcett movie Sunburn and a year later he released an album of songs written for the hugely popular animated feature, Animalympics which continues to sell steadily on video. As soon as he’d finished Animalympics, Graham was invited by none other than The Ramones to produce their Pleasant Dreams album for Sire Records. Thinking his musical ideas must be a million miles away from those of Joey and da brudders, Graham was, nevertheless, intrigued by the prospect of working with one of New York’s finest groups of punk rockers. The result was that they all had enormous fun and the record was the third most successful of The Ramones’ huge catalogue of albums. Into ‘83-’84 – Graham and Eric decided to formally disband 10cc. Graham subsequently formed Wax with American songwriter Andrew Gold, whose biggest hit to date had been Lonely Boy and whose theme for the evergreen TV series The Golden Girls had made him hot property. Wax signed to RCA and had hits with Right Between The Eyes (which sat at No 1 in Spain for six weeks, as well as being a UK and US hit) and Bridge To Your Heart which hit No 12 in the UK. Although Wax released their third and last album in 1989, Gouldman and Gold continued (and continue) to write together. Into the ‘90s amid renewed interest in everything 10cc-ish, Graham reunited with Eric Stewart to record a new 10cc album, Meanwhile, which featured some input from Godley and Creme. Although a moderate success in the UK, the album was enormous in Japan. Before you could say Sushi, Graham and Eric had jumped on a plane to Japan where their tour was so successful that the duo, with an extended line-up, were invited to return the following year. Back into the swing of touring, 1991 and 1992 saw the band undertake tours of Japan, the UK, and most of Europe. Touring continued into the following year when the band signed to the Japanese label Avex, recorded a live album and then started work on another 10cc album, Mirror Mirror. Huge amounts of promotional work followed and Graham and Eric found themselves trekking up and down the country armed only with an acoustic guitar. As if the ‘90s hadn’t been busy enough already, 1995 turned out to be one of the most active periods with tours of the UK, Japan and Europe, an acoustic show at the famous Lloyds of London Building and to cap it all, a BMI citation for an unprecedented THREE MILLION plays on US radio for I’m Not In Love. This followed the BMI citation for two million plays of Things We Do For Love and one million plays of Bus Stop. Graham was beginning to run out of wall space. Graham has also wrote with and for a number of people. He and Tim Rice partnered on the song The Monkey And The Onion; Graham wrote The Way I’m Feeling Tonight with Paul Carrack for the latter’s album (released in August 2002). He also wrote songs with the late Kirsty McCall for her album and with Suggs (from Madness) for his, as well as spending time in Nashville writing with, among others, Country Songwriter of the Year Gary Burr. The Wax Files, which features tracks from all three Wax albums as well as newly recorded material with Andrew Gold, released in the UK on the For Your Love label (through Dome records) and Graham also worked on writing the soundtrack for Paul Hills’ new film, Raving Beauties. Graham Gouldman is the complete musician; it’s what he’s always done, it’s what he’ll always do. And he loves it, “I just can’t imagine doing anything else”, he says, “I Love working with new, sometimes unsigned artistes because it’s great to work with new people. I know I benefit from their fresh perspective, I can only hope they then benefit from my experience.” During the late-‘90s, Graham assembled some friends to do the occasional live show, playing mainly 10cc material, but also featuring some of his earlier hits. In 2000, concerts in the UK, Belgium and Germany were so well received that he decided to take it more seriously. With 2002 being the 30th anniversary of the 10cc hit Donna, Graham thought it good opportunity to play more live shows and remind people of the original band’s musical genius. A UK tour covered 28 cities and towns from April-June, followed by selected one-off events during the summer and shows in Europe. Since then, Graham and the band have played shows across Europe, toured Australia, New Zealand and Japan and performed at several UK festivals. With increased radio play for the classics I’m Not In Love and Dreadlock Holiday, a resurgence of interest in 10cc developed through 2006 and an exceptional headline spot at the UK’s Cropready Festival in August helped set the scene for 2007, when the band played more than 40 UK concerts across two national tours. To coincide, Universal Records released the TV-advertised, double CD 10cc: Greatest Hits … And More, featuring the obvious band numbers, plus hits Graham wrote for others and collaborations, including two new tracks written with Kevin Godley. In June 1007, the Mail On Sunday newspaper produced a special 10-track Best of 10cc CD, distributing more than 2.4 million copies throughout the UK and Eire. The MoS reported that their UK circulation rose by 233,000 that day. This year sees the band doing summer festivals across the UK and Europe, with tours on Denmark and Belgium confirmed and a major UK tour planned for the autumn. The first three months of 2008 already contain a 21-date tour of Holland and four arena shows in Germany. The live band’s line-up is: Graham Gouldman – bass, guitar, vocals 10cc Chart Positions: Rubber Bullets 1 |

Unfortunately the death of guitarist Steve Roberts, brother of founder member Greg, in 2006 beset the group with an unbelievable tragedy. But Dreadzone have set out to pick themselves up and do what they do best, take to the road with two new members, fresh energy and brand new material.

After a truely amazing SELL OUT NYE event Revive is back with its mix of quality DJ's alongside some of the best vocalists and musicians in the business with Funky, Soulful, Sexy, Sassy sounds all night long.
Since their immaculate conception in a Suburban English town in the hot summer of 2002 they have blazed a trail around, first the British, 80 packed in a room and the sound systems a bit knackered (that means sh*t for you yanks), clubs to the 5000 plus capacity, and the light systems really flashy now, venues of our fair isles.
The guitar, bass and drums trio The Hamsters have long been established as our premier blues-rock attraction, having performed 4,000 concerts in 21 years. They've a mailing list exceeding 20,000 and a website which receives 1,000 visitors a day, and although primarily playing their own brand of rootsy Rock, Blues and Americana, they're also widely regarded as the UK's leading interpreters of the music of Jimi Hendrix and ZZ Top.
Time
to dance the night away with the band who make every gig a party night!
Having already started the year with an extensive tour of Germany, Belgium & Switzerland, Wishbone Ash stop off in the UK for a twenty-five date tour, taking in many of the country's major towns and cities, and proving they're still one of the hardest-working and in-demand bands.
