Who's WhoWho's Who is a dynamic powerful tribute band from the U.K with all of the energies, passion and angst of The Who at their peak.
|
|
|||||
Who's Who is a dynamic powerful tribute band from the U.K with all of the energies, passion and angst of The Who at their peak. They recreate the classic hits whilst evoking the atmosphere of those heady times for a new generation to witness and for the older one to re-live.
Not only does the music contain all of the right ingredients but a closer visual representation would be very hard to find. Even The Who can't manage to resurrect Keith Moon like they have! Drummer, Paul (Moonie) Kemp resembles Keith so much in his looks and playing style that Keith's mother invited him home for tea when they met at a fan club convention!
Who's Who's exiting live performances with Townshend's leaping and Daltrey's microphone whirling antics receive incredible reactions and at one of them Pete Townshend's brother, Paul, danced at the front of the stage for the whole performance ecstatically declaring later that the band were "Astounding and brilliant!" |

The Grandmothers of InventionFeaturing Original And Former Members Of "The Mothers of Invention" - The legendary Frank Zappa's band. |
|
||||||
Most of the members appeared on Freak Out, Absolutely Free, We're Only In It For The Money, Cruising With Ruben & the Jets and Uncle Meat. During Zappa's jazz/classical rock period of 1969-1970 on The Mothers were augmented by Don "Sugarcane" Harris (violin), Jean-Luc Ponty (violin), Ruth Underwood (percussion), Aynsley Dunbar and John Guerin (both drums). Most of these members appeared on Uncle Meat, Hot Rats, Weasels Ripped My Flesh and Burnt Weeny Sandwich. From 1970-72, Zappa formed a new Mothers with former Turtles members Flo & Eddie (vocalists Mark Volman & Howard Kaylan) and bassist Jim Pons. Don Preston, Ian Underwood, Aynsley Dunbar remained in the lineup, along with additional keyboardist George Duke. After Zappa was pushed from the stage by a fan in 1972 and could not tour for the next year, that lineup of the Mothers was disbanded. Two more jazz rock albums, Waka Jawaka and The Grand Wazoo, were recorded with much of the previous jazz rock group including Preston, Ian Underwood, Ruth Underwood, Dunbar, Ponty, Huerin and Duke. Trumpeter Sal Marquez was also added. Zappa and the Mothers went back to vocal rock songs with jazz elements in 1973 on Over-Nite Sensation, then 1974's Apostrophe and 1975's One Size Fits All. Much of the same band remained, along with new members Bruce Fowler (trombone), Tom Fowler (bass) and Napoleon Murphy Brock (saxophone). In 1975 Zappa stopped using the Mothers of Invention for his backing band. By the late '70s and entirely new backing band was formed with only occasional participation from past Mothers members. Beginning in the 80's, past Mothers members Collins, Black, Gardner, Sherwood, Preston, Tom Fowler and Bruce Fowler occasionally played in a Zappa tribute band, The Grandmothers. |

The Purple ProjectPerforming the Classic Rock of Deep Purple. Featuring Johnny Marter of the SAS Band.
|
|
|||||
The members of the band are all session musicians who have worked with many top names in the industry including Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple), Don Airy (Deep Purple), Graham Bonnet (Rainbow), Doogie White (Rainbow), Bernie Marsden & Micky Moody (Whitesnake) and Neil Murray (Whitesnake) to name but a few. The Purple Project represents something much more than just a look-a-like 'tribute' act. As massive fans themselves, they tribute the music of Deep Purple and not the personnel - Clearly the fans agree that the focus should always be on the music and not simply 'dressing-up' to look the part. Behind each live performance lies a deeper understanding of the structure and motivation for the musical arrangements - and of course a shared passion for recreating and experiencing the unbelievable power and intensity of Deep Purple in full flight! The show mirrors the legendary concerts of Deep Purple with a running time of over two hours, with songs picked from the extensive album and single back catalogue, and includes classic live favourites such as 'Hush', 'Burn' and of course 'Smoke on the Water'! Buddy WhittingtonIf you are John Mayall's guitarist, you are shure not to be messed with! |
|
||||||
It's been a Mayall tradition for the Bluesbreakers' guitarist to cover a Freddie King instrumental, starting with "Hideaway" by Eric on the "Beano", "The Stumble" by Peter on "A Hard Road", and "Driving Sideways" featuring Mick Taylor on "Crusade". Buddy continues this tradition in style with "Sen-Say-Shun" on the "Blues For The Lost Days" album, Mayall's 1997 Silvertone release. The Texas influence rears its head on "Dead City" from the same album and on "Ain't No Brakeman" from 1994's "Spinning Coin." Unlike countless rock 'n rollers who carry racks of guitars around for every show, Buddy likes to keep it simple and plays only one - his 1963 Stratocaster plugged into a Dr. Z amplifier. He is also an accomplished blues songwriter and, in addition to the songs he sings with the Bluesbreakers on live shows, on the Bluesbreakers CD "Stories" he contributed his own "Romance Classified". He and longtime Mayall drummer Joe Yuele co-wrote "Pieces And Parts" and together, they also co-wrote 'Always a Brand New Road' on 1999's "Padlock On The Blues" and "Awestruck and Spellbound" on the latest CD "Road Dogs."ROAD DOGS'. Although John Mayall makes Los Angeles his home base, Buddy is proud to live in Hurst, Texas with his family where he was raised and born to play the blues. He is currently working on material for a future album of his own. Preview by Peter Ashton |

Stiff Little FingersOnly a handful left - this show will sell out today!!!Come and have some barbed wire love! |
|
||||||
Prior to becoming Stiff Little Fingers, Jake Burns, Vocals and Guitar, Henry Cluney, Guitar, Gordon Blair, Bass, and Brian Faloon, Drums, were playing in a cover band, Highway Star, in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Upon the departure of Gordon Blair (who went on to play with another Belfast group, Rudi), Ali McMordie took over the duties on Bass. Henry had by this time discovered punk, and introduced the rest of the band to it. They decided that Highway Star wasn't a punky enough name, and after a brief flirtation with the name The Fast, decided to call themselves Stiff Little Fingers, Jake taking the name from the Vibrators track. In November of '77, Gordon Ogilvie, a local journalist, caught their live show and was impressed. He encouraged them to write their own songs about what they knew best--life in Belfast. Jake came back twelve days later with "Suspect Device" and "Wasted Life". These were the first of what became SLF's signature style: lyrics that meld the personal and political, music that combines the energy of punk with infectious hooks, and delivery that rings of honesty and commitment. With Ogilvie's help, they released those two songs on their own Rigid Digits label, with an initial pressing of only 350. Ogilvie sent a copy to BBC Radio One DJ John Peel, who started playing it every night. The interest generated resulted in a distribution deal through Rough Trade in England. A local fanzine named Alternative Ulster asked the band to write a song specially for a giveaway flexi-disc. Although the plans for the flexi fell through, "Alternative Ulster" became the first single released by Rough Trade in October of '78. Jake once introduced it as "a song about having nothing to do." It became a punk rock classic. In the fall of '78, SLF toured the UK supporting the Tom Robinson band and gathered a solid following. That plus airplay by John Peel resulted in their first album, the now legendary Inflammable Material LP, debuting in the UK charts at #14. The album chronicles the band's anger and frustration at "the Troubles" in Northern Ireland, and calls on youth to create their own reality. In '79 the band moved to London and Brian Faloon decided not to go, which inspired the lyrics to "Wait and See". He was replaced by Jim Reilly who made his debut on the "Gotta Gettaway" single. In the spring they played on the Rock Against Racism tour. By the summer of 1979, SLF signed a deal with Chrysalis Records which included unusually broad artistic control by the band. They released the LP Nobody's Heroes in 1980. It combined the DIY ethic of the first album with more universal themes of alienation, anti-militarism, and anti-racism. Their live shows continued to be special events of energy and power. The Go For It LP in '81 revealed more sophisticated songwriting and musicianship, and another step in the shift from punk to power pop. Soon after the Go For It tour, Jim Reilly left the band and was replaced by Dolphin Taylor, formerly drummer for the Tom Robinson band. The Now Then album of '82 alienated many of SLF's punk followers with its pop sound, and despite some glowing critical reviews, never got the recognition it deserved. The band split in early '83. At the time, Jake said, "Our last LP Now Then was to my mind the best album we have made. But it is also unfortunately the best I think we will ever make. So I have decided to call it a day." He later revealed, "The first split was a bit acrimonious. Instead of talking through our difficulties we wound up having fist fights." During the five years they spent apart, each member pursued musical projects, as detailed in the Discography. But none were as satisfying, or as successful, as SLF. Said Ali, "It wasn't until we got back together again did we realize this was the only thing we were ever completely happy with." In '87, Jake "...got a phone call from Ali, asking if I fancied going to see a reunion gig by the Tom Robinson band. At this period everybody seemed to be getting back together again." Jake couldn't go to the gig, but they soon got together for drinks, which led to more nights of drinking, which eventually led to the idea that they play a few reunion shows, partly as an inexpensive way of returning to Belfast to see their parents at Christmastime. The audience response to the reunion shows was overwhelming, with sell-out crowds larger than any that SLF had played in their original incarnation. The two shows at the Brixton Academy in '88 pulled in over 10,000 people over two nights. Fans from the U.S., Japan, Switzerland and elsewhere flew in to see them. Recordings from those shows were released as the See You Up There album and video, considered by many to be the best SLF live recordings ever. The response to the shows across the world surprised and delighted the band, and their following continued to grow, with younger "new" fans alongside the old diehards. By '90 their thoughts had turned to reforming the band permanently and recording new material. But Ali decided his commitments wouldkeep him from recording an album or touring. He officially left about a week before they were scheduled to tour Japan. Jake phoned Bruce Foxton (formerly of The Jam), who jumped in at the last minute, and has been a member ever since. The Flags and Emblems LP released in '91, featured the single "Beirut Moon," which was immediately banned in Britain. The song criticized the British government for not acting to free hostage John McCarthy in Lebanon. Although overall the LP's material was not as strong as earlier albums, it still served to satisfy fans starved for new SLF songs, and the subsequent tour continued the tradition of powerful shows where the crowd reacts "to most of SLF's numbers in much the same way as kernels react to a plugged-in popcorn maker," as noted in the Los Angeles Times in '92. In 1993 Jake made what he describes in the book Stiff Little Fingers-Song by Song as being one of the hardest decisions of his life, and asked Henry Cluney to leave the band, and the trio of Jake Burns, Bruce Foxton and Dolphin Taylor continued, for the next four years, joined on tour by guitarists Dave Sharp or Ian McCallum. In '94 they released the Get a Life LP in the UK, later released in the US in '95. The album helped renew interest in SLF just as newer bands that sited them as a major influence, such as Bad Religion, Sugar, Rancid, and Therapy, were coming to prominence. At the end of '96 Dolphin Taylor left the band, due to family and business obligations. The new drummer was Steve Grantley, who some will remember as the drummer for Jake Burns and the Big Wheel. Ian McCallum joined permanently on guitar, balancing SLF tours with solo recordings and performances. SLF released the studio album, Tinderbox,in '97 and toured extensively throughout that year to promote it. Stiff Little Fingers released the studio album Hope Street,in two different formats in 1999. The UK release on EMI is packaged with a special The Best Of AllCD, containing remastered classic cuts from the band's entire back catalogue. The North American release on King Biscuit/Oxygen includes a second live CD, from the Newcastle Riverside concert from September '98. Said Jake Burns, "'Last Train From The Wasteland' (on Hope Street) is the first optimistic song I have ever written about Belfast, while Hope Street the album is generally more optimistic than people have given us credit for in the past." In 1999 also SLF released a live CD of all new live material, titled Handheld and Rigidly Digital, available exclusively on this Web site and at SLF gigs. Much of the material was recorded at a special Hope Street Premier Party held in London, at which the band played over two hours of new songs, rarities, plus all the favorites. In August 2003, Stiff Little Fingers released their ninth studio album, Guitar and Drum, which includes a moving tribute to Joe Strummer, entitled "Strummerville". In 2006, Bruce Foxton left Stiff Little Fingers amicably, and original bassist Ali McMordie returned after 15 years. Response from the fans has been tremendous. Though focused on their new material, they always play the old favorites at gigs. Jake said, "You have to strike a balance. The difficulty with a band like ourselves is to try not make it sound like a cabaret band. Obviously, it'd be very easy to go, 'Hey, here's another old one you may remember.' A lot of the old songs the audience greet like old friends....I suppose it's the same as any band that's been around for any length of time....And yes, there are nights that we don't particularly want to play "Alternative Ulster" or "Suspect Device" because we've heard them 'til they're coming out our ears. But there's always the possibility that somebody out there has never seen the band before, never heard them." |

Given the thumbs-up by no less a guitar god than Jimmy Page himself , Whole Lotta led are THE Led Zeppelin tribute band Hailing from England Whole Lotta Led are now considered by many to be one of the greatest tributes to Led Zeppelin around. Generally playing two and a half hour sets and over 100 concerts a year their enthusiasm on stage is unequalled, with a stage presence full of magnetism that all audiences feel and share. They are all exceptional musicians in their own field and without realising it create much the same energy, flair and magic that still holds Led Zeppelin as one of thee largest and most influential bands the world has ever seen. New generations are getting involved in the Zeppelin experience, audiences at Whole Lotta Led gigs span four generations from six to sixty and for most it is the first opportunity of seeing Zeppelin's music performed live. It has been many years now since Zeppelin split up, tributes keep the music alive but when Whole Lotta Led recreate a Zeppelin concert they keep the music fresh. Uniquely for a tribute band they don't have the pretence of trying to look like former members of Zeppelin, their integrity and musicianship comes through in the passion for the music they play. Jimmy Page met them and gave his blessing to what they are achieving. The band also raises funds for The ABC Trust, a charity founded by Jimmy Page's wife to help under privileged children in Brazil. She keeps in touch with the band and informs Jimmy of there progress. |

Hayseed DixieSOLD OUT!!! NO-TICKET = NO ENTRY!!!Classic Rock meets Bluegrass, 'Ace of Spades', 'Walk This Way' etc... This band is a Brook favourite - If you have been here lately - you will have heard their CD.
|
|

One thing is true though, Hayseed Dixie have built up a huge reputation as a sensational live act since they formed in 2001. They don?t just to AC/DC covers - after their debut album sold over 100,000 copies worldwide, they went back into the studios to record some of their own songs. The result was "A Hillbilly Tribute to Mountain Love" an inspired exploration of one of the primary reasons for drinking, cheating, killing and going to hell. The next development in the career of Hayseed Dixie was hearing some songs by the band Kiss and realising they were kindred spirits. So in February 2003 they spent two inspired days in the recording studio to produce their third album "Kiss My Grass - A Hillbilly Tribute To Kiss." There followed a joint tour with Kerosene Brothers followed including over 100 shows all over the USA and Australia which included much heroic drinking. Feeling the need to plough some fresh fertile fields, the boys began to focus on getting to the UK and Europe. as well. Last year they released of "Let There Be Rockgrass" and the first UK tour took place. According to Hayseed Dixie, the full spectrum of hell was raised and "Rockgrass" became an international phenomena. Now they're back on tour in the UK again and as lead singer Barley Scotch says: "We ain't even started drinking yet. We've just been on a recon mission so far. Now we know where the party people around the world are, and we're coming back to close the deal! Hayseed Dixie are: Barley Scotch - singer, guitar & fiddle, Don Wayne Reno - banjo, Dale Reno - mandolin and Jason D. Smith - bass. Preview by Peter Ashton |

Adrian (Smith), Nicko and HI-ON MAIDEN powered their way through THE WICKER MAN and 2 MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT. To top it all off, there was a real treat instore at the last show in Portugal……STEVE HARRIS was there!!! He stayed to watch the whole show and even got up in the encore to perform FOUR songs. He allowed Speed to use his checker board bass, and Steve Harris used Speed's. Jean GenieFantastic David Bowie Tribute |
|
|||
Jean Genie were formed in 1993 in Birmingham by John Mainwaring the lead vocalist of the band. They play all over the world and pay tribute to Bowie's music of the 70s 80s and 90s.
John has had many recording contracts with major companies under different guises and has toured with David Bowie's original band of the early 70s - The Spiders From Mars - being their vocalist.
John has been produced by Bowie's producer Tony Visconti in the early 80s and worked with Jarvis Cocker of Pulp and Joe Elliott of Def Leppard. He has also had a number one hit in The Lebanon in 1990. Jean Genie play all of Bowies hits in an amazing show of complete detail. John Mainwearing is without doubt the only other David Bowie on the planet, his voice is exactly the same but you don't need to close your eyes because he looks just like him too.

Gunz N' Rozes are: Frontman GARRY CROWLEY's appearance on T.V.'s "Stars In Their Eyes", won so much acclaim that he was asked back to appear on the show's Christmas Special. He also performed vocals on N-Trance's recording of the Guns N' Roses classic "Paradise City". N.G.P. (Rhythm). NGP's energetic impersonation of IZZY STRADLIN's stage performance and guitar work, makes his physical resemblance a bonus. He also does much of the backing vocals, always spot on. SNAKE (Bass). Snake's hard edged bass style cuts through with punk attitude allowing his impression of DUFF McKAGAN to be uncannily accurate. STEVE HARCOURT (Drums). Recreates MATT SORUM's drumming with unswerving confidence. He is a drummer experienced in many techniques whose love lies in heavier styles. JOE HARCOURT (Lead Guitar). His performance as lead guitarist SLASH is simply superb, all of his classic riffs and solos are recreated note for note, and Joe's physical appearance is remarkably similar to Slash. All the classic tracks including "Paradise City", "You Could Be Mine", "Sweet Child O' Mine", "Welcome to the Jungle", etc, etc, are performed by the band along with many other songs from the albums, "Appetite for Destruction", "G N' R Lies", and "Use Your Illusion I and II". |

Who's Who's exiting live performances with Townshend's leaping and Daltrey's microphone whirling antics receive incredible reactions and at one of them Pete Townshend's brother, Paul, danced at the front of the stage for the whole performance ecstatically declaring later that the band were "Astounding and brilliant!"

Frank Zappa joined the R&B group the Soul Giants in 1964. The band included vocalist Ray Collins, bassist Roy Estrada and drummer Jimmy Carl Black. Zappa emerged as their creative leader and changed their name to the Mothers. When they signed Verve Records, their name was changed to the Mothers Of Invention. For much of their seminal 1960's albums, the group also included woodwind player Bunk Gardner, guitarist Jim Sherwood, keyboardist Don Preston, multi-instrumentalist Ian Underwood and additional drummers Billy Mundi and Art Tripp.
'The Purple Project' represents the talents of some of the finest musicians working on the live circuit today:
Born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1956, Buddy Whittington began playing guitar at the age of eight after being inspired by his sister's records of The Beatles, Rolling Stones and, in particular, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton. By the age of 14 he was already a part of the Dallas/Fort Worth music scene and playing regularly in the clubs along Jacksboro Highway.
Stiff Little Fingers are a punk band, originally based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, formed in 1977.
Imagine a time when warriors strode the earth. A time when battle-painted warrior-poets sang of battles and heady feats of heroism, myth intermingled with fact, and romantic notions of adventure on the high seas sparked the imagination. The time is now, because so-called battle metal maestros TURISAS – named after their homeland's ancient god of war – are bringing back the old school. As in, 1000 AD. "This comes from somewhere deep inside," is the only way founder and chieftain songwriter Mathias 'Warlord' Nygård can describe both his music and the inspiration behind it. "We play around with history, there's fantasy imagery there, but I hate fantasy metal with all those dragons or whatever. There's no substance there. We actually believe in what we're doing."
Whole lotta Led will be performing the same set that Zeppelin played at the historic O2 Arena show back in December last year .

to the sleeve notes for the first Hayseed Dixie album, "A Hillbilly
Tribute To AC/DC" their interest in AC/DC started when they found a
collection of AC/DC records in the valley of Deer Lick Holler in the Appalachian
mountains of the USA, where a stranger had crashed in his car and expired. They
could only play the records at 78 rpm on an old Edison Victrola player, but the
boys all agreed that it was mighty fine country music. Well, if you believe
that, you?ll believe anything!

In
late October 2001, the band started the Convention Tour which would see
them playing nine gigs in eight different countries. As an added bonus
to the tour, NICKO MCBRAIN went along to each show and did a drum clinic.
Of course, it's difficult to keep Nicko off the kit. So when HI-ON MAIDEN
asked him if he would perform a few songs with them, he willingly obliged,
every night of the tour!!!!!
The world's No.1 Thin Lizzy tribute band

The Queens perform a show packed with the hits, anthems and live favourites from the world's most majestic rock 'n' roll band. With great attention to detail, they bring you the look, sound, raw energy and showmanship of Queens' most memorable live gigs, faithfully recreating highlights of their Live Killers Tour '79, Montreal '81, Milton Keynes Bowl '82 and Wembley '86.
Anyone who has seen this tribute to L.A. based supergroup GUNS N' ROSES will readily agree with their reputation as one of the most exciting tribute bands on the circuit today. The band's ability to combine their heavy metal technique with punk attitude has seen them receiving ecstatic reviews all over Britain, and their raw energy and frighteningly good stage show has led to GUNZ N' ROZES being labelled "THE MOST DANGEROUS TRIBUTE BAND IN THE WORLD"
