About The Venue…
After an extensive re-fit in the summer of 2004, The Brook is fast becoming one of the favourite medium sized venue in the South of England.
Situated close to the University, it is an ideal venue as Southampton has an annually rising student population, which is currently over 32,000. The Brook is close to the M3 and M27 motorways, it also has easy access to rail, airport and ferry ports. With a fire limit of 600 and an effective ticket sale of 550, (with limited seating around the balcony), a fantastic intimate atmosphere is created whether you are sitting or standing.
The feel of the venue is a little like the old Mean Fiddler in Harlesdon, London. There are two floors with two large bars and disabled facilities. Because of the balcony, every member of the audience is able to feel close to the band. Many bands who have played have commented on how good a venue it is and we are justly proud of it.
The Brook has two adjoining dressing rooms with power shower and toilet.
There is a fridge and washing machine in the kitchen area which leads out to an enclosed external balcony. There is also a television and Wi-Fi broadband internet access.
We can accommodate from small vans to double decker touring coaches with trailers, with access straight on to the stage, and can supply overnight electricity and water to sleeper buses.
We have promoted thousands of shows on and off site including:
James Brown, Will Young, Saw Doctors, Dionne Warwick, Alabama 3, The Delays, Blue Oyster Cult, Space, Bob Geldof, Catatonia, Tony Joe White, Roger Taylor, Mad Professor, Herbalizer, Ozric Tentacles, Rhazel, Bentley Rhythm Ace, John Martyn, Midge Ure, Oyster Band, Nils Lofgren, Peter Green, Fish, Scotty Moore, Ian Dury, Shane McGowan, Bill Wyman, Arthur Lee, Mark Lamar, Jeff Green, Ed Byrne, My Life Story, Catatonia, Tony Hadley, Hayseed Dixie, Hawkwind…
Bob Harris started recording a TV series of live shows in mid 2005, recording his first one at The Brook.
BBC Radio’s 2 and 3 have broadcast live from The Brook.
Open For 21 Years, PRS Listed Venue, ticket prices typically range from £5-£30, effective selling capacity is 550 with seating around the balcony.
